With the world on pause right now as a result of COVID-19, it is still important to communicate with your customers and try to engage them with fresh content. Social media is a great way to facilitate this communication, but knowing which platforms to use and why is crucial. We all know about Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook as major social media platforms. Learning the algorithms of these platforms, in addition to what consumers like to see on them can help boost the effectiveness of your communication significantly.
Instagram has evolved greatly from an image-based platform to one that includes videos, story posts, and even live streams. Story posts can contain many engaging features such as question boxes, polls, ratings, and emoji reactions.
A great way to keep your followers engaged is by asking questions that connect your brand to your followers' personal lives. Post the best answers on your story to recognize your active followers. By doing this, you can attract more active followers who will look forward to seeing your posts on their feeds.
We love Twitter for how concise it requires its users to be, as 280 characters is quite easy to go through! Twitter is fantastic for public discussions, and Twitter threads are much easier to follow than conversations in Instagram comment sections.
To keep your follower based on twitter engaged, ask questions to your followers. Don’t just stop there, though. Go beyond retweets and likes, and reply to your followers. Keeping a live conversation on your feed will increase your following and bring active followers.
TikTok
TikTok has emerged as the hottest new social media platform, providing users with never-ending fresh content until their thumbs get tired of scrolling. Tik Tok certainly will not appeal to all businesses, however, the businesses where it has appeal have a huge opportunity to take advantage of.
To augment engagement on TikTok, use common, trendy sounds that are used by viral content creators. This is a great, simple way to get your videos to appear on the feeds of consumers. Furthermore, add your own twist by combining two or more sounds to create content that will catch the ears and eyes of consumers.
Facebook is still the platform with the most active users, with just under 2.5 billion active users in 2020. Facebook generally has a great balance between image, video, and text posts.
A great way to engage your followers on Facebook is by posting news or industry articles that are relevant to your business. The ‘share’ button is a very powerful tool that can expand your reach and engagement well beyond your follower base.
